Originally created in Austin, TX throughout 2012-2013, these pieces were initially recorded live without overdubs by looping guitar phrases and playing field recordings captured on my phone through my guitar pickups. These two elements came together without any true direction or course, and were then further refined over the years after I returned to Long Island, NY.

The creation process first took place as my time in Austin felt like it was coming to a close, and I was at a loss as to what I was doing there exactly. Loneliness, isolation and sadness color these pieces, as those emotions were what I was feeling quite a lot during the recording sessions. I was metaphorically lost in the wilds of the desert inside of myself.

For the album title, I settled on the title "Wilderlost", a play on the word "wanderlust", which was more or less the exact opposite of what I was feeling as my Texas experiment/adventure came to a close.

At first, these pieces were much longer and and each was edited to extract the most cogent sections. Additional sounds and layers were then added to enhance them. As is with a lot of things in life, the process was uneven and meandering. At times the album felt finished, only for it to leave me feeling unsatisfied not too soon after. The entire process took many years of on-and-off activity and the album would cycle in and out of my life repeatedly. Eventually, I knew that this album needed to be completed and purged in order to move onto other projects. Enjoy, it's been quite a rewarding but exhausting process for me.
